I heard Joey mention in an interview that they listened a lot to the Audioslave album while they were in the studio and i think you can hear influences from them in the sound.

I read that also in todays Kerrang, where Joey recommends Audioslaves album as a "classic" rock album

I totally agree about rage againest the machine.
Joey would have been better off listening to any of Europe past albums in the studio
